Marina Abramovic is active for over three decades, she has recently begun to describe herself as the "grandmother of performance art." Abramović's work explores the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind.

Edward Hopper è stato ispirato dalla luce e dall'architettura della città americana moderna e dagli oggetti quotidiani che ha visto in luoghi come stazioni di servizio, cinema e alberghi. Hopper faceva schizzi dei luoghi reali, ma la maggior parte delle sue composizioni sono state create in Studio. Edward Hopper was inspired by the light and architecture of the modern American city and the everyday things that he saw in the places he visited, such as restaurants, offices, gas stations, movie theaters, and hotels. Hopper made sketches of actual sites but most of his compositions were created in the studio. His works create a sense of loneliness that he felt was part of life in the United States.
Hopper painted in his spare time, but his work did not sell. In 1920, before he received any major recognition, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney gave Hopper his first one-artist exhibition at the Whitney Studio Club.

An exhibition of works by Mike Kelley will take place in Milan this summer, timed to coincide with the Venice Biennale-an exhibition in which Kelley participated twice (in 1988 and 1995).

In “Exploded Flowers” (Fiori Esplosi), artista Fong Qi Wei ha creato una collezione di immagini che mostrano la simmetria radiale di fiori, e anche i singoli componenti floreali. L'atto di smontaggio mette a nudo le varie forme dei fiori. L'uso della fotografia cattura la bellezza e la complessità dei fiori della natura nel momento della piena fioritura, e allo stesso tempo ti permette di avere una diversa valutazione della loro bellezza.

In “Exploded Flowers”, artist Fong Qi Wei has created a collection of images that show the radial symmetry of flowers, and also individual floral components. The act of disassembly lays bare the various shapes of the flowers. The use of photography captures the beauty and intricacies of nature’s flowers in the moment of full bloom, and at the same time let you have a different appreciation of their beauty.

From the first cave drawings made in Lascaux approximately 20,000 years ago, art has altered the Earth. In honor of Earth Day 2013, Artinfo takes a look at four examples that should make us think carefully about how activities of the artists can impact the planet.

World Trade Center, "Tribute in Light"
A New York gli 88 proiettori che illuminano il cielo ogni anno l'11 settembre sono stati progettati in collaborazione tra Creative Time e il  Municipal Arts Society come un memoriale per le vittime del 9/11. Il suo valore come tributo, tuttavia, deve essere rivalutato rispetto ai 9.000 uccelli che sono rimasti intrappolati all'interno della torre di luce in una sola notte.

In New York the 88 searchlights that shot into the sky each year on September 11 were designed in collaboration between Creative Time and the Municipal Arts Society as a memorial to victims of 9/11. They remain one of the most moving — and visible — tributes to the events. It's value as a tribute, however, has to be weighed against the up to 9,000 birds that have become trapped inside the tower of light in a single night.

 

 

 

 

Christo and Jeanne-Claude, “Over the River”

Among the many objections is the possible environmental damage of the spectacular work of environmental art — specifically, that it might destroy habitat of many animals.

Ho scoperto da poco questo artista, ma già lo adoro.
Il protagonista delle sue opere è l’uomo di oggi con le sue emozioni e i suoi sentimenti. All’interno dei suoi quadri le figure possono apparire marginali e talvolta velate da tocchi di pittura. In molti casi i personaggi sono avvolti dai colori in continuo movimento come lo è la vita di oggi. Gonella dipinge l'uomo contemporaneo che deve affrontare il nostro tempo in perenne mutamento.

I recently discovered this artist, but already I love it.
The protagonist of his works is the man of today with his emotions and feelings. Inside of his paintings the figures may appear marginal and sometimes veiled by touches of paint. In many cases, the characters are surrounded by the colors in constant motion as it is today's life. Gonella paints contemporary man facing our time constantly changing.

Clet Abraham è il più popolare street artist di Firenze. questo artista trasforma i cartelli stradali, che rimangono in qualche modo leggibili, ma prendono nuovi significati.
Amo questo artista! Sorrido ogni volta che mi imbatto in suo lavoro.
Ora le sue creazioni si animano e in questo video possiamo vedere Clet all'opera a Parigi. Ma le sue opere iniziano a prendere vita e mi viene in mente subito che questa non è più street art ma urban cartoon.

I love this artist! I grin every time I come across his work.
