Oggi vi presento "Woman and Her Toilette".
You know the drill. I'm attracted to the details of a painting or a sculpture, those details so perfect as to be a masterpiece in the masterpiece. I start with this post a series devoted to the details in the art, or how to admire a masterpiece through a close encounter. Today I present "Woman and Her Toilette".
Woman at Her Toilette. Oil on panel. SCHOOL OF FONTAINBLEAU. ca. 1550-70 |
Leafing through an old book of History of Art I found this and I was amazed at the perfection and thoroughness with which the jewels that have been described are choosing this lady. I wanted to know more and I found out that this work, entitled "Woman and Her Toilette" is kept at the Worcester Art Museum (Worcester - Massachusetts). This is the portrait of a lady of the court of Fontainebleau, the famous French royal residence and a place of great artistic activity especially in the middle of the sixteenth century (the period covered by the work). The painting has been attributed to Francois Clouet (c. 1510-1572), court painter during the reign of Francis I and Charles IV. I find ques'opera wonderful, and you?
