0
The works of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei is the most
anticipated of the Venice Biennale.
The dissident artist for over a year can not leave China for political
affairs, will be the star of
this year's Biennale.
Ai Weiwei was invited to participate in the German Pavilion by curator Susanne Gaensheimer, director of the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, where the artist has created a map of China-made milk cans. The same cans of contaminated milk which has caused serious damage to 300,000 children in China in 2008, killing six. But Ai Weiwei will also be present in the schedule of side events of the 55th International Art Exhibition in Complex of the spinsters and the Church of Sant'Antonin with two very important jobs. What to Zittelle is the retelling of his famous work "Straight", a large installation built with a set of steel bars, recovered from the rubble of schools destroyed by the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan, where they killed more than 5,000 children. The work in the Church of Saint Antonin, however, is secreted and will be revealed only on the day of the inauguration.
